Since last year when the Transitions XTRActive Polarized lenses were announced, Stefanos had told us that he wants to make such a pair of glasses!
In fact, as soon as he tried, also last year… , the new Arnette Goemon transparent sunglasses, he told us: I want them! I’m buying them! Keep them here and as soon as the XTRActive Polarized come in you’ll be fitting me with lenses like this with my RX!”
A year later, fortunately, Essilor Transitions XTRActive Polarized lenses became available and we were able to order them from him.
These lenses are almost completely clear indoors and at night, while darken and becoming polarized outdoors during the day.
Stefanos’ RX on this particular frame and for ideal thickness on the bevelled periphery of the lenses required a material with a refractive index of 1.67.
The frame of the Arnette Goemon is quite curvy and for this reason we sent it to Essilor to have the lenses made with a special curvature base in order to follow the shape of the frame exactly without distorting it.
For optimal peripheral vision even on such curvaceous frames, Essilor lenses can be customized, while with Eyezen technology the lower part of the lenses is properly shaped for restful vision in the near and intermediate distances of modern digital life.
Combining all of the above, we ordered the 1st in Greece pair of Essilor Eyezen Start Stylis 1.67 Precal Base Transitions XTRActive Polarized Crizal Sapphire HR lenses.
The lenses were made in Essilor France and came to us through the Greek Essilor representative in Greece and in fact with the new top anti-scratch coating Crizal Sapphire HR.
Scanning, centering, grinding, polishing, mounting… DONE!
Stefanos’ reaction when he put them on was one word: “WOW”
And his joy was indescribable since he had literally never worn such pair of glasses before!
